Staten Island Yankees to sport new look for 10th season

February 10, 2008 –  The Staten Island Yankees have officially unveiled their new look for their upcoming tenth season.  This marks the first major change to the Yankees main uniform since 2000, when the team switched from standard New York Yankees uniforms to the Yankees script.  In 2003 the Staten Island Yankees changed their batting practice uniforms to feature the inter-locking SI logo, and was also used as their road uniform for a brief period.

                The Staten Island Yankees introduced the interlocking SI logo just before the 2002 season, last season it received a small face lift as the famed Yankees hat and bat was added.  The interlocking SI logo is one of several secondary logos the team will be using this season.  The Baby Bombers will be adding a script “Y” logo and a stylized “Uncle Sam” along with a special sleeve patch to help demonstrate that they are Staten Island’s team.

                The special sleeve patch contains a block “SI NY” with five stars representing each of the five boroughs of NY.  The center start, which is colored gold, represents the borough of Staten Island.

                The new Staten Island home jersey will feature the new interlocking "SI" logo on the left chest of a pinstriped uniform and the "SINY" patch on the left sleeve.  The alternate home jersey features the blue scripted "Y" logo on the left chest on pinstripes with the batting practice jersey being a navy blue v-neck with the white scripted "Y" logo.  The road jersey will be the same as in years past, with the exception of the "SINY" patch.

                With the unveiling of the new logos the Staten Island Yankees have also announced the return of the Back to Baseball Bash that will take place at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark in April on a date to be announced.  Fans will have the opportunity to purchase merchandise featuring the new logos at this team.  If anyone wishes to be contacted when the merchandise is available they can call the SI Yankees at 718.720.9265 and press 0.
