July 15, 2007 - The sun was out on July 15 as the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Staten Island Yankees met in the second game of a three game set.  Staten Island was coming off wins in five out of last six games and was looking for their second consecutive win.

Dellin Betances started the game for the baby bombers but did not go long into the game.  Betances pitched just three innings giving up two runs on three hits and struck out three batters.  The Yankees pulled Betances after throwing just 65 pitches.

The bombers plated their first run in the third inning.  David Williams lead off with a line drive to right that fell in for a single.  Austin Krum then singled to center that put two on and no outs.  After Matt Morris struck out, Justin Snyder then belted a ground-rule double to center to cut the Vermont lead to one run.

Vermont was not hitting as in the sixth inning they went on to plate four runners off Yankee reliever Craig Heyer.  The bombers were able to push another run in their half of the sixth.  With two outs, Taylor Holiday and Jose Gil were hit by a pitch.  DJ Hollingsworth then came in as a pinch runner for Gil and two consecutive walks to David Williams and Austin Krum would give the bombers two runs in the game.  The Lake Monsters would get that run back in the top of the seventh.

Craig Heyer went on to pitch three innings giving up five runs on seven hits while striking out five.  The highlight of the night was Boomer Whiting striking out four times in five at bats and receiving the Golden Sombrero.
