August 11, 2007 – It could not have been a better night for a game at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark as 4,622 fans filled the stands to watch the Staten Island Yankees face off against the Jamestown Jammers.

The Baby Bombers were looking for their third consecutive victory as they sent Zach McAllister to the mound.   McAllister had another quality start, going 6 innings, allowing just 2 runs while striking out 5 batters.

The Yankees were the first to get on the board, early on in the first inning.  Justin Snyder led off with a single, stole second and then advanced to third on a wild pitch.  Damon Sublett then reached base on a fielder’s choice which Snyder was out at a close play at the plate.  After Braedyn Pruitt walked to move Sublett into scoring position, Matt Morris lined a single to right field for an RBI.

Jamestown was able to bring men around in the second, third, fourth and ninth inning for a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.  The Bombers were held to that run until their half of the inning, when with two outs they were able to put together a rally.  Dave Williams lined a single to center with 1 out and then with 2 outs DJ Hollingsworth singled on a ground ball to second with Williams moving to third.  Hollingswoth then moved to second on defensive indifference and both runners scored on an RBI double by Justin Snyder.

The Staten Island Yankees and the Jamestown Jammers will meet up again tomorrow night in the final game of the three game set.  Tuesday starts the All-Star Break with the All-Star Game on Tuesday before starting a 3 game road trip.
