Stephens Leads Yanks to Game One Win
Right-hander goes six innings while
allowing just two hits

– Jason Stephens went 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, while striking out 5
batters in his second rehab start. The young right-handed pitcher was
perfect through the first 4 innings before allowing a leadoff double in
the fifth inning. Stephens held Jamestown to 2 hits as he got his
second win of the season.
The Staten Island
Yankees were the first to go on the board, plating 2 runs in the first
inning. Justin Snyder led off with a single to left and moved to third
on a double by Taylor Holiday. Damon Sublett got the first Yankee RBI
with a sacrifice fly to center field, moving Holiday to third. Braedyn
Pruitt then belted a line drive single to center to plate Holiday for
the second run of the game.
The bombers offense was
left hitless for 7.2 innings before a groundball RBI single to left by
Matt Morris that would give the bombers a 3-0 lead.
Jason Kiley took over on
the mound in the seventh inning, pitching 1.2 inning allowing 2 hits and
a walk while striking out 3. He handed the ball over to Jonathan Ortiz
in the eighth inning with 1 out left. Ortiz got the final out of the
inning and came in to get the save in the ninth.
The Staten Island
Yankees and Jamestown Jammers will meet up again tomorrow night at the
Richmond County Bank Ballpark, as Zach McAllister will be starting.
